A motor vehicle pedestrian accident in Houston County, Georgia Sunday night, December 15, 2019, tragically claimed the life of one person.
As reported by 13WMAZ.com, “the Houston County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call about an unresponsive person around 10 or 11 p.m. at a trailer park near Georgia State Route 49 and Highway 11.”
According to the report, “when deputies got to the scene, the woman, identified as Kimberly Touchton, was taken to the emergency room at Houston Medical Center” but was tragically unable to recover from her injuries.
AJC.com is reporting, “[w]hile [the] Middle Georgia woman walked her dog Sunday night, a vehicle driving on a nearby overhead bridge somehow lost its tire. That tire traveled at least 300 yards, striking the woman in the head and killing her in what’s being called a freak accident.”
According to the report, “that accident has led to the driver’s arrest since authorities believe he saw what happened and didn’t report it.”
The driver has been charged with “failure to report an accident causing injury or death” per the media reports.
The investigation is ongoing.
