Our Legal Take

Apartment complex residents and guests have a right to feel safe and secure while on the premises. The Murray Law Firm questions the level of security provided to those at the property and whether this tragedy may have been prevented.

  • FOX 5 reports indicate Mr. Gallishaw heroically attempted to stop the suspect from firing a gun “multiple times” prior to the deadly shooting. Where was apartment management or security during the initial gunfire? Were any efforts made by apartment staff to call police or de-escalate the situation prior to violence?

By law, property owners in Georgia are required to protect all those legally on the premises from any foreseeable harm.  Should the facts of this matter reveal that the apartment complex owner or management failed to provide adequate security, the family of Gregory Gallishaw may seek justice and elect to pursue legal claims for his wrongful death.

Based upon its long, extensive, and successful experience in handling negligent security cases against property owners in the State of Georgia, The Murray Law Firm suggests that photographs and a thorough, unbiased inspection of the property will need to be performed immediately, before any evidence may be repaired, damaged or destroyed.
