Could the tragic loss of this young man have been prevented are justice and compensation available to Darius Daniels’ family?
Gunfire erupted at a Lilburn motel Wednesday morning, December 12, 2018, tragically claiming the life of 28-year-old Darius Daniels.
Police told The AJC, the shooting occurred at “the Home Stay Suites in the 4300 block of U.S. 78 about 4 a.m.” Tragically, Mr. Daniels succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene.
WSB-TV 2 reports, this “is not the first shooting at the motel and another happened just 48 hours earlier.” The incidents raise grave questions over security measures at the motel.

Our Legal Take
Hotel guests have a right to feel safe and secure while on the premises. The Murray Law Firm questions the level of security provided at the hotel and whether this tragedy may have been prevented.
- Have there been prior incidents of violence on or near property?
- What additional security measures, such as guarded entry, guest screening, bright parking lot lighting, monitored surveillance cameras, and visible security patrols, were implemented to deter crime and protect guests following media reports of prior gun violence on property?
By law, property owners in Georgia are required to protect all those legally on the premises from any foreseeable harm. Should the facts of this matter reveal that the motel owner failed to provide adequate security, Darius Daniels’ family may seek justice and elect to pursue legal claims for his wrongful death.
The Murray Law Firm has recovered millions of dollars for victims of unsafe properties in Georgia, and recently obtained a $29.25 million dollar verdict in Georgia.
