A head-on motor vehicle accident in Waycross, Georgia tragically resulted in the loss of two people Saturday night, March 23, 2019.  According to WJHnews.com, “George W. White III, 49…[was] killed in a crash on the Telmore-Dixie Union Road.” According to the news report, “[i]n the 10:18 p.m. accident on Telmore-Dixie Union Road…a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado, was eastbound when [the] truck ran off the roadway on the westbound side.”  The vehicle re-entered the road way and “collided head-on with a 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by [George] White as he was westbound on the roadway.”  The news report indicates “both drivers were killed on impact.”  Allegedly, according to the WJHnews.com article, “prior to the accident, investigators determined that [the Silverado driver] was texting on her cell phone.”

A motor vehicle accident involving an Uber vehicle and a semi trailer caused the death of a passenger Thursday night, March 21, 2019.  According to CBS46.com, “[t]he crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday at the intersection of Perry Boulevard and Johnson Drive.”   AJC.com is reporting, ” [a]ccording to police, a sedan was traveling west on Perry Boulevard and ran a red light at the intersection. A semi-truck going south on Johnson Road slammed into the car’s passenger side.”  A passenger in the sedan died as a result of the collision, the driver of the sedan was transported to the hospital with injuries according to the news report.

Media reports indicate the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.

A motor vehicle accident involving a minivan and a tractor-trailer tragically resulted in the loss of a life Tuesday afternoon, March 19, 2019.  Sadly, reports suggest that those who work in the area have been requesting the installation of a traffic signal for some time.

According to AJC.com, “[t]he wreck happened on Fulton Industrial Boulevard at Tradewater Parkway.”  The news story reports “the tractor-trailer was on Tradewater Parkway and was attempting to turn onto Fulton Industrial Boulevard to head north. However, it ended up stuck in the northbound lanes waiting for traffic to clear, which is when the minivan allegedly hit the side of the trailer.”  According to WSBtv.com, “Dwayne Burkholder, 48, was killed when he crashed into the tractor-trailer.” The truck driver “faces second-degree vehicular homicide, failure to yield and obstruction of an intersection charges,” per the report.

The WSBtv.com news story suggests that “people who work in the area…said this wouldn’t have happened if there were a traffic light there.”  One of those individuals told the news outlet that the intersection is “very dangerous. We sit here all the time, and every time, we’re the ones that call 911. And every time, we tell them, ‘We need a red light, we need a red light.'”
