A motor vehicle accident involving a single car tragically claimed the life of a young woman and injured multiple others early Sunday morning, March 31, 2019.

According to 11Alive.com, “[the driver] was speeding on Thompson Bridge Road around 3:30 a.m. when he lost control of his Mazda 3 near Fairmont Street and left the roadway…the Mazda hit several trees before flipping into another tree one final time.” Gainesvilletimes.com is reporting, “Erika Marie Torres Rivera, 23, was fatally injured…[f]ellow passengers Kevin Lequerique Caban, 29, and Keishym Colon, 18, both of Gainesville, had minor injuries.”  The news story reports that the driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital and “was charged with DUI, first-degree vehicular homicide and failure to maintain lane.”

Other charges are pending according to the media reports.

A motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles injured multiple people Saturday morning, March 30, 2019.

According to AccessWDUN.com, “at approximately 10:48, troopers from Post 7 Toccoa responded to a two-vehicle crash in Habersham County…[t]he crash occurred on Ga. 197, south of Bobby Brooks Road.”  The news report states “[a] 2012 Toyota Highlander…was traveling north on Ga. 197 and the driver failed to maintain his lane and crossed the centerline, striking an oncoming vehicle head-on…[t]hat other vehicle, a 2010 Toyota Camry driven by Patrick Godwin, 39, of Pensacola, Fla., was traveling south on Ga. 197.”  The Driver of the Camry, Patrick Godwin, “was taken to NGMC by Air Life Georgia Helicopter,” and a passenger also in the Camry, Amber Krystine Horton, was “transported by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) in Gainesville,” according to NowHabersham.com.

The driver of the Toyota Highlander was allegedly charged with failure to maintain lane according to the media reports.

A motor vehicle accident caused injuries to several people Thursday afternoon, March 28, 2019.  According to WSBtv.com, “[a] school bus was involved in a chain-reaction crash in Coweta County Thursday afternoon, injuring multiple students, the bus driver and an assistant…the crash happened at Highway 154 and Woolsie Road around 12:15 p.m.” The news story reports that “two cars were going north, with one about to pull onto Woolsie Road. One car bumped the other, sending the lead car into the path of the bus…[t]he car clipped the bus as it swerved to try to avoid the accident. The bus ended up on its side.”  The WSBtv.com news story indicates that “two students and two adults on the bus were transported to a hospital as a precaution. Another student in one of the cars also was taken to a hospital.”
