A motor vehicle accident involving a hit-and-run vehicle injured multiple people Wednesday morning, April 17, 2019.

According to 11Alive.com, [a] car fire turned into multiple injuries and shut down all lanes for several hours on I-285 eastbound at Northside Drive Wednesday morning.”  AJC.com is reporting, “[t]wo vehicles were involved in the initial crash in the eastbound lanes near New Northside Drive around 2 a.m….A third driver in a tractor-trailer had stopped to help and extinguish the flames when all three people were hit by a blue Ford Mustang.”  The news story reports “[t]he Mustang then left the scene with heavy front-end damage.”  According to the report, “the truck driver was ok and was released from the hospital…Another victim, Jeannie Smithwick, was still unconscious at Grady Memorial Hospital…The condition of the third victim was not known.”

Authorities continue to search for the Ford Mustang.

An accident involving a hit-and-run vehicle injured a pedestrian Tuesday evening, April 16, 2019. According to WDEF.com, “[a] woman was hit by a vehicle on McConnell Road off of Highway 337 west of Trion.”  The victim was airlifted to a Chattanooga hospital with serious injuries.  TheSummervilleNews.com reports, “[t]he vehicle left the scene of the accident…around 9:20 p.m., the Georgia State Patrol has located the fleeing vehicle and has made an arrest.”  According to the news report, the driver has been “arrested for DUI, failure to report an accident and serious injury by vehicle.”

Rossville News

A Rossville, Georgia  motorcycle accident tragically claimed the life of a rider Wednesday morning, April 17, 2019.  According to NewsChannel9.com, a motorcycle collided with a white pickup, “[t]he accident happened shortly after dawn in front of [a] High School at the intersection of Happy Valley Road and Battlefield Parkway.” The news story reports, “Georgia State Patrol has identified the motorcyclist as 65-year-old Joe Brown Davis of Chickamauga.” According to the report, “the driver of the truck was turning left into the school’s entrance, which was into the path [Joe]Davis was heading when they collided.”

Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
