Laurens County, GA – A motor vehicle hit-and-run accident early Tuesday morning, January 28, 2025, left one man fatally injured.

As reported by WGXA.tv, “[a]ccording to the Georgia Department of Public Safety, GSP responded to a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian on Ga. Highway 19 around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The pedestrian was walking south along the highway when he was struck from behind and the vehicle fled the scene.”

13WMAZ.com is reporting, “Laurens County Coroner…said that Dublin native James Smith, 52, was hit from behind and killed.”

The investigation is ongoing.

As reported by WTVM.com, “[t]he incident happened around 1:30 a.m. in the area of Victory and Benning drives.”

WRBL.com is reporting, “Muscogee County Coroner…says the man killed was 38-year-old Anthony Hughley. Hughley was pronounced dead at 2:02 a.m. in the Piedmont Columbus Regional emergency room.”

Pelham, GA – A motor vehicle accident in Pelham, GA Friday evening, September 20, 2024, left one man fatally injured.

As reported by WALB.com, “[a]t around 7 p.m., the Mitchell County 911 center received a call about a hit-and-run.”

According to the report, “[an officer] was called out to Mt. Olive Road where a pedestrian, later identified as 88-year-old Amos Anderson, was hit and killed by a vehicle. At the time of the incident, Anderson was picking up debris just outside of his home.

WALB.com is reporting, “the driver was headed east at the time of the incident, but after fatally hitting 88-year-old Amos Anderson, the driver reversed and went back west.” Per the report, “[l]aw enforcement went door-to-door looking for surveillance footage but were unsuccessful. Currently, there are no witnesses.”
