A dump truck accident in Dawson County caused injuries and heavy traffic Monday afternoon, February 18, 2019.

The accident happened “around 4 p.m. at the intersection of GA-400 and Georgia Highway 53,” according to Fox5Atlanta.com. This intersection is just north of the North Georgia Premium Outlets. AJC.com is reporting that “[t]he wreck happened when a dump truck ran a red light, swerved and spilled its load on top of a[n] SUV in the intersection….”  According to the AJC.com report, the accident “sent two people to the hospital with serious injuries.”

Media outlets indicate the accident is still under investigation.

A head-on collision on US-129 in Cleveland, Georgia caused injuries Tuesday, February 12, 2019 according to media reports.

According to AccessWDUN.com, “[a] Clermont man suffered serious injuries in a two-car crash on Cleveland Highway [US-129] in White County Tuesday evening…[t]hree other people were also hurt.”  AccessWDUN.com is reporting that after a preliminary investigation by Georgia State Patrol “[GSP] determined a Toyota 4-Runner…was traveling southbound on Cleveland Highway, following the vehicle in front of him too closely…as [the 4-Runner] attempted to avoid the vehicle in front of him, he crossed into the northbound lane of traffic, hitting an oncoming Chevrolet Cruz head-on.”

The occupants in the 4-Runner “suffered minor injuries” and in the Chevrolet Cruz, 1 occupant “was seriously injured” and 1 occupant “was minorly injured,” according to GainesvilleTimes.com.  The news outlet indicates that “charges are pending at this time.”

A Sunday afternoon bike ride turned into a hospital visit for a young boy in Augusta.  According to WRDW.com, “around 12:10 p.m. on Sunday, a 13-year-old boy was biking on 2nd Street and about to pull onto Duncan Road. A 2003 GMC SUV was driving south on Duncan Road when it hit the teen.”  Per the news outlets, “[t]he teen was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”  The driver of the car was not injured.

It is unclear whether the driver will be facing charges.
