Could this Columbus apartment shooting have been prevented, and are justice and compensation available to the victims?

According to The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, gunfire broke out at the “Warren Williams Apartments in the 1100 block of 12th Street” Sunday morning, September 2, 2018, leaving “Kelvin Gunn, Ravian Johnson and Terica Griffin” injured.

Police are still searching for suspects, per WTVM reports.

The complex was the location of a prior shooting investigation in April 2016, per Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports.

Could this violent Decatur home invasion have been prevented, and are justice and compensation available to the victims?

A violent Decatur apartment home invasion reportedly left a mother and her young son injured August 27, 2018.

According to 11 Alive, the intruder “forced his way into a home on Citrus Court in Decatur.” The mother and son were discovered with “multiple gunshot wounds.” Their current conditions have not been released. Police have since made an arrest in connection with the shooting, per AJC reports.

Savannah Neighborhood Crime Prevention

“Neighborhood leaders want homeowners across Savannah to light up their homes in a city wide effort to deter crime and brighten neighborhoods,” according to WSAV reports. In July, the Downtown Savannah Neighborhood Association partnered with police, Phillips Electric and The Home Depot to hand out hundreds of L.E.D. light bulbs to home owners in an effort to reduce opportunistic crime.

In August, Savannah Police teamed up with neighbors for National Night Out, a campaign to strengthen community and law enforcement partnerships for a safer Savannah.
