South Fulton News
A motor vehicle accident involving a minivan and a tractor-trailer tragically resulted in the loss of a life Tuesday afternoon, March 19, 2019. Sadly, reports suggest that those who work in the area have been requesting the installation of a traffic signal for some time.
According to AJC.com, “[t]he wreck happened on Fulton Industrial Boulevard at Tradewater Parkway.” The news story reports “the tractor-trailer was on Tradewater Parkway and was attempting to turn onto Fulton Industrial Boulevard to head north. However, it ended up stuck in the northbound lanes waiting for traffic to clear, which is when the minivan allegedly hit the side of the trailer.” According to WSBtv.com, “Dwayne Burkholder, 48, was killed when he crashed into the tractor-trailer.” The truck driver “faces second-degree vehicular homicide, failure to yield and obstruction of an intersection charges,” per the report.
The WSBtv.com news story suggests that “people who work in the area…said this wouldn’t have happened if there were a traffic light there.” One of those individuals told the news outlet that the intersection is “very dangerous. We sit here all the time, and every time, we’re the ones that call 911. And every time, we tell them, ‘We need a red light, we need a red light.'”
